Revival

Have a martini with your mutt inside this hidden gem located just a few blocks away from Union Square’s dog park and Irving Plaza. This quiet, casual bar plays an eclectic mix of rock and some hip hop, but on Thursdays they mix it up with “iPod night” where you set the atmosphere with queued-up tunes from your iPod. Shake Shack

Hold a glass of wine in one hand and your dog’s leash in the other at this “roadside” food stand nestled in Madison Square Park and just a stone’s throw from James’ Run, a newly renovated dog park. Bailey’s Corner Pub

This dog-friendly Irish pub boasts a dozen TVs that are strategically placed to keep sports fans from craning their neck, and it’s so cozy too. The owner is a dog lover and is known to play host to several dogs and their owners in search of a stiff drink after an afternoon romp at the nearby Carl Shurz dog run. 1607 York Ave, 212-650-1341


BROOKLYN

Moonshine

On every third Sunday, the owners of Moonshine encourage you to bring a bull dog and have a beer at their spot in Red Hook. What makes this local hangout stand out from the rest is the BBQ pit in their “beer garden” complete with two gas grills and smoker. You can get your grill on and use their condiments for free, but call ahead before showing up with your own meat or veggies to avoid a traffic jam. Canine Cocktail Pawty
Mix plenty of cocktails and several do-gooders together and you have a "pawty" for a good cause. Jenna Gates, organizer of a doggie playgroup for her favorite dog breed – Shiba Inus – concocted the Canine Cocktail Pawty as a way to amuse her playgroup members and raise money for canine charities. I had a fabulous time at the Canine Cocktail Pawty. Lots of well-dressed people and fun dogs mingle and enjoyed the evening for a good cause -- Animal Haven, a pet shelter and sanctuary in New York.

I hear there's going to be a Canine Cocktail Pawty in the fall. Kudos to Jenna Gates, organizer of the NYC Shiba Inu Meetup, and everyone who made this cocktail pawty such as success. I can't wait to attend the next one. Stay tuned!

Event: Small dogs unite!

My good pal Rece is throwing a playdate for the small dog set. She organizes the NYC Small Dogs Playgroup.

You don't want to miss her puppy pawties. Last year, she organized a lovely event on the water called the Canine Cruise. Need I say more?

It's about time we re-visit our old haunt, HAPPY PAWS!! Come hang with our playgroup regulars and meet some newbies. Great people, great pooches, good music and yummy snacks! Our pooches sniff and play, while we munch and chat! Then of course, there's also the Happy Paws boutique for pooch necessities, cutie outfits or we can snag some treats for our deserving little angels.

Spend 2 hours of your Saturday socializing your dog with his playgroup buddies. Your pooch will smooch you for it!

Pawty with a Purpose!

Calling all Pug fans! Lin Randolph and her pugnacious Pug named Lenny are throwing a pawty you won't want to miss!

It's called Lenny the Pug's Annual Birthday Benefit for Animal Haven. AH is a wonderful no-kill animal shelter and pet sanctuary in New York City. Please help support this worthy cause by attending with your furry one and having lots of fun. All dog breeds are welcome.

Cocktails Anyone?

When I get home from work, there's nothing I like better than a glass of Sprite and a shot of Appleton Rum to take my cares away. Ahhh joy!!

The other day, I wasn't paying attention and my pup Roxie managed to stick her nose in my drink and she sneaked at least one slurp before I grabbed it from her! Yuck!

While I don't ever want to share a cocktail with my dog again, I was recently invited to a unique party that allows you to mingle and drink with your canine in tow.
